# Privacy Policy

**Buffet — operated by Buffet Co, Inc.**

**Effective date: August 26, 2026**

**Last updated: August 26, 2026**

This Privacy Policy explains how Buffet Co, Inc. (“Buffet,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Buffet mobile application, joinbuffet.com, and related services (together, the “Service”).

Buffet seats small groups of people at real-world events and helps them connect before, during, and after. Providing that service necessarily involves collecting information about you and showing some of it to other people.

By using the Service, you agree to this Policy. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.

## 1. Information We Collect

**Account and profile information.** Information you provide when you create an account and build your profile — which may include your name, phone number, email address, date of birth, gender, photos, city, interests, preferences about who you’d like to meet, written answers and prompts, and other details you choose to add. Some of this is required to use the Service; the rest is optional.

**Authentication information.** If you sign in through Apple, Google, or a phone number, we receive the identifiers and account details those providers share with us.

**Content you create.** Messages, photos, comments, likes, invitations, ratings, reviews, reports, feedback, and anything else you post, send, or submit through the Service.

**Activity information.** How you use the Service — events you RSVP to, whether you attend, features you use, purchases you make, and similar activity. We use this to operate the Service and to understand and improve it.

**Location information.** If you grant permission, we collect your device’s location to show distances between members and to keep your city current. Location is optional and you can turn it off at any time in your device settings.

**Device and technical information.** Device type, operating system, app version, language, region, identifiers assigned to your device or account, and similar technical data collected automatically when you use the Service.

**Crash and diagnostic information.** When the app crashes or misbehaves, we automatically receive a report describing what happened — where in the app it failed, the device model and operating system, the app version, and technical details about the state of the app at that moment. These reports are tied to a random identifier for your installation of the app, not to your name or your account, and we use them only to find and fix problems.

**Sensitive information.** Some of what we collect may be considered sensitive, including your precise location, your date of birth, and preferences that could indicate sexual orientation. We collect it only because matching cannot work without it, we use it only to provide and improve the Service, and we do not use it to infer characteristics about you or to target advertising.

### The website

joinbuffet.com is a static site. It does not set cookies, run analytics, or embed advertising or social-media trackers. The only information it collects is what you enter into a form, such as an email address for our newsletter or a message sent through our contact form. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs.

## 2. How We Use Information

We use information to operate, provide, maintain, personalize, and improve the Service. This includes, but is not limited to:

- Creating and securing your account

- Building your feed, matching members, forming groups, and showing distance

- Operating chats, invitations, events, and RSVPs

- Maintaining reliability standing, which may affect access to events and features

- Providing paid features and processing subscriptions

- Communicating with you about your account, the Service, and — where you’ve opted in or where permitted — marketing

- Investigating and responding to reports, abuse, fraud, and safety concerns

- Analyzing usage to understand what works and to develop new features

- Diagnosing crashes and errors, and keeping the Service stable

- Complying with law, enforcing our Terms, and protecting the rights, property, and safety of our users, the public, and Buffet

Where required by law, we rely on your consent for location, push notifications, and marketing; on the necessity of performing our contract with you for core Service functions; and on our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the Service.

**Automated processing.** Certain features operate automatically without human review, including matching, compatibility scoring, group formation, and reliability standing. Some features use third-party artificial-intelligence service providers to generate suggestions and conversation prompts from profile information; the content of your private messages is not used for this purpose. If a decision affects you and you’d like a person to review it, email us.

---

## 3. How Information Is Shared

**With other members.** Your profile and the content you post are visible to other members of the Service. If you share location, other members may see your approximate distance from them — never your exact coordinates. Anything you share with another member may be copied, saved, or repeated by them. We do not control and are not responsible for what other members do with information you make available to them.

**With service providers.** We share information with vendors who perform services for us, including cloud hosting and databases, authentication, file storage, push notifications, analytics, crash reporting, subscription management, artificial-intelligence processing, email delivery, and customer support. They may use the information only to provide services to us.

**For legal and safety reasons.** We may disclose information where we believe it is reasonably necessary to comply with any applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; to enforce our Terms; to detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users, the public, or Buffet.

**In a business transaction.** If Buffet is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

**In aggregate or de-identified form.** We may create and use aggregated or de-identified information, which does not identify you, for any purpose.

**We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.**

Our service providers and infrastructure are located primarily in the United States, and information we collect may be transferred to, stored in, and processed there or in other countries.

## 4. Retention and Deletion

We keep information for as long as your account is active and for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and protect the safety of the Service.

You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → menu → Account → Delete Account). Deleting your account removes your profile and the information associated with it from the Service.

Some information may remain after deletion. This includes, without limitation, content you shared with other members that remains part of their experience, records we retain for safety and abuse-prevention purposes, information held by third-party providers under their own retention practices, and copies in backups and archives, which are overwritten on a routine schedule.

Deleting your account does not cancel a paid subscription. Subscriptions are billed by Apple and must be cancelled through your Apple ID settings.

If you want us to delete information that deletion does not reach, email **info@buffetapp.co** and we will do so where we are able and not otherwise required to keep it.

---

## 5. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, a copy of, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing.

You can update most of your information directly in the app. To make any other request, email **info@buffetapp.co**. We will verify your identity — usually through the phone number or email address on your account — and respond within the time required by applicable law. Exercising these rights is free, and we will not discriminate against you for doing so.

**In-app controls.** You can turn off location and push notifications in your device settings, and unsubscribe from marketing email using the link in any such email. We may still send you messages about your account and the Service.

**California residents.** In the past twelve months we collected the categories of information described in Section 1 — including identifiers, personal and commercial information, protected characteristics, geolocation, internet and app activity, and inferences — for the purposes described in Section 2, and disclosed them to the categories of recipients described in Section 3. We did not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. You have the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out, and you may designate an authorized agent. We use sensitive personal information only to provide and improve the Service, and not for purposes that would trigger the right to limit its use.

**EEA and UK residents.** Our legal bases are described in Section 2. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing that already happened, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Where we transfer information internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

**Nevada residents.** We do not sell personal information as defined by Nevada law.

---

## 6. Security

We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information, including access controls, encryption in transit, and encryption at rest through our infrastructure providers.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials and your device secure.

---

## 7. Children

**The Service is for adults 18 and over.** You must be 18 to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

If we learn that we have collected information from someone under 18, we will delete it. If you believe a minor is using the Service, email **info@buffetapp.co**.

---

## 8. Third-Party Services

The Service may link to or interoperate with websites, applications, and services we do not control, including the App Store, sign-in providers, and venues and partners associated with our events. This Policy does not apply to them, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. Review their policies before providing information to them.

---

## 9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the Service, or the law. The **Last updated** date above indicates when it was last revised.

If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the Service or by other appropriate means before those changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
