When you set up an account you choose your city. Los Angeles is selectable and puts you straight into this week’s events. Selecting Austin or New York adds you to that city’s waitlist instead, and you are notified when it opens. This is the mechanism the team uses to decide where to launch next, so joining is the most direct way to register that there is demand where you live. It costs nothing and does not require a subscription. ## Why does Buffet launch one city at a time? Because the product does not work thinly. A Buffet event needs three people who picked the same thing on the same night, in a group that caps at six, at a real venue someone has actually chosen. Spread across fifty cities at launch, that means empty events and groups that never form.
